Sea-level rise and king tides are an issue for many properties, and particularly those with an old seawall that was installed with a cap that is at a lower elevation than current building codes.
Existing seawall caps can be raised using a variety of methods.
Most caps can be elevated using a custom designed add-on cap consisting of high strength, lightweight concrete which is installed on top of the existing cap. As a bonus, a wave inverting leading edge can be incorporated to prevent over-splash and wave erosion. Our elevated caps can be designed to match the color and texture of existing concrete, or they can be designed to match the color and texture of existing patios or residential trim.
For caps that need to be raised significantly, a new concrete cap can be poured on top of the existing cap, although this sort of elevation also typically requires additional piles to support the added weight.
